What three characters do you use?

Cloud, Barret, and Cid. I used Tifa if I didn't have Cid yet.

I always have used cid and barret but I think I will used tifa in one of those spots in my next playthrough

Cloud (obviously), Cid, and Tifa, and Nanaki until I get Cid.

Cloud, Vincent and Nanaki... my total FFvii Knights, but i changed their names just to suit the moment..

Vincent:Xavier
Nanaki:Nanaki

These three were my average joes, catching chocobo's and endlessly leveling the all materias

After disk one, Tifa or Yuffie for magic.

I usually rotate after someone levels up though

I rotate them throughout the game. Try to keep their stats about even, so I have who I need when I need them. The only character I don't use is Cait Sith. Well, you have to to get out of Junon after being arrested, but I assure you that as soon as possible, I get him out of my party. (SPOILER)I wish he'd have stayed dead at the Temple of the Ancients.
