1000 at least per server means alot.

Just a smaller base where people have learned to get along.

And both game's game play aren't based on quantity.

WoW's gameplay has people obtaining Skills and using them differantly based on Talent Specs for customization and instancing pwnage.

FFXI is probably like the more traditional FFXI but ~BETTER~ (it has weapon skills <3 among many other better things)... unfortunately though people thought it was boring because you don't press attack "each go..."... and that in the beginning (until about level 15-20 for most melee characters) don't get much to do... But a little later you become a one man four party membered rawr machine~

With personal experience of WoW's level 60 endgame (havent bothered with the level 70 areas... yet)... and playing FFXI for over 2 years (;_.

I can say that FFXI is the better of the 2 (even though WoW has some nice elements of it's own and is more polished) because it has a storyline later in-game (they have also apparently WAY lowered the difficulty of Chains of Promathia... which sounds fun !) and even though it took the game awhile to become playable by non-me types (4 and a half years -_-)... it's definetly over-shining :]!

ps: play none... you will lose your life to at least one *runs*.
