Who is your favorite group of rebels who stood up to fight the establishment in the FF universe? Yeah I have a pretty good idea who will win but you have to say why they are the best as well...
The Rebels (FFII)
The Returners (FFVI)
AVALANCHE (FFVII)
Timber Owls (FFVIII)
The Marquis Resistance Forces (FFXII)
None of them and stop wasting out time Wolf...

True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
My god this day is happening.
THE ANSWER IS..
Avalanche.
I mean all anti-FF7 aside, if there was a perfect idea for a rebel group it'd be them.
Sorry Returners, Ya'll didn't blow things up to get your point across, talking doesn't always fix things you know~
FFX SpoilerLady Yuna & Co. after discovering the truth n.n
They're some kind of group...right?
Even though FFII is the only FF game I played and really, truly, hated, I'll say the rebels of FFII. It had the whole star wars edge to it. Plus it seemed more like an actual military resistance rather than a small underground organization that didn't do much (returners) or a terrorist group (avalanche). That adds legitimacy.
Where is Ramza's team? they are also fighting as resistance versus the Lucavi.
FFII
It was an organized rebellion group unlike the others, and actually had a believable amount of forces to aid them, not an unrealistic amount like seven or eight people. A whole village was supporting them, and the whole epic feel was great when you were assigned to missions and such.
EOFF needs a resurgence to it's former glory.
Poor Returners.
They actually gotdone. Unfortunately, AVALANCHE didn't seem to have done anything at all until Cloud showed up, and he's not even a member.
What anti-FF7?

I haven't made it all the way through FFII before, but the Returners were organized. They also had more than seven or eight people. They had plenty of nameless NPC's, not to mention the dozen or so characters you can get in the game. If it isn't obvious, I give the Returners the nod.
Kanno, you're on a roll with these threads
AVALANCHE were definately some modern day revolutionaries. Returners were cool too.
But I gotta give it to the rebel forces in FFII. Also how it gets glorified in FFIX (33 small nations united together) it was really cool and for such a small game the idea of it all is very epic, plus the 3 main characters go from messenger-boys (& girl) to the commanders of the rebellion. Forget VI and VII, FFII should be remade on PS3!
The reason I didn't put the others is because most of them are not really organizations who wish to topple a specific establishment. Ramza is trying to stop the Lucavi whio are manipulating the Church and the War but it's never stated that Ramza is actually trying to topple the Glabadoes Church.
Yuna's group does have the issues with the Maester's after Seymoure is killed but that's more personal and it never felt like the other Measter's cared (until they stormed Bevelle and learned the truth a little) but once again like Ramza's team, Yuna and company never change their objective to actually toppling the powers that be. Yes they get rid of the Maester's, but as anyone who saw that scene knows, it was completely unintentional.
As for the Al Bhed, once again the Al Bhed never actually try to stop Bevelle through military force, they tried to end the racial hatred of their clan by using Machina to destryo Sin thus proving the Maester's wrong and gaining acceptance. They never actually plan a military campaign or actually speak about overthrowing the powers that be.
Basically it come down to the fact these games featured established rebel organizations with some military power or at least the power to actually do something. These groups have specific goals and were not formed accidentally in the course of the game cause the group just happened to stumble upon the truth. In hindsight though, I should have mentioned the Death Corps. from Tactics though![]()

The rebels from FF2. They were the only ones who actually got round to defeating their intended target. All the others were either killed/someone else did it for them.
There is no signature here. Move along.
AVALANCHE because they were saving the planet, not destroying anything!
