The lines in the middle of the circle are called aspects, and the different points they start and end at can tell alot about someone's personality and what they can expect in the future. Each aspect starts at one planet, and ends at another. For example, an aspect that stretches from Venus to Jupiter would tell something different than an aspect that stretches from Venus to Mercury. You can tell which aspect corresponds to what planet by using the different symbols.
The ring around the outside of the chart is divided into twelve sections, each one representing a Zodiac sign (again, use the symbols).
In the natal chart example I provided, you see an arrow pointing up to the funky looking M symbol. That is the symbol of Virgo, my sun sign. The sun sign is what most people are familiar with, and it's determined by what day of the year you were born on. The sun sign tells about the core of a person (how they think, react to things, etc.), and is an important factor when making a chart.
Across the equator of the chart is a bold line that denotes the Ascendant and Descendant. In astrology, the Ascendant (or rising sign), is the Zodiac sign that was in full effect on the horizon when you were born. The Ascendant describes how you act, and what kind of energies you project out into the world. My main/sun sign is Virgo, but my Ascendant is Sagittarius. The Ascendant is usually regarded as just as equal as the sun sign in astrology.
Opposite to the Ascendant, is the Descendant. The Descendant really isn't that important, but people who's sun sign is your Descendant (Gemini in my case), are usually people you are unintentionally attracted to.
I've only just scratched the surface of charts and astrology, but as you can tell, astrology is a complex field of study. It's very interesting though!xD

my sign is Virgo, that's as far as I go xD I can't read those chart things.
i'm a Capricorn. From what I have seen there is a new and improve version this one has 13 signs and I'm a Sagittarius on this one.

[EDIT] Apparently the planetary positions in the Houses at the point of my birth say I'm going to end up living over seas, which is ironic because I'm starting overseas travel next year, to Dubai, then hopefully some european countries.
