I usually don't use the Ignore List since many threads will stop making sense after that, and that often leads to me wanting to see the ignored posts anyway. Looks like I put someone on the Ignore List because his posts were like 10-20+ pages long (when you copy & paste them to WordPad or something) and I got tired of scrolling down so much.
