Why is the TV show called Bleach?

Many of the names of characters, locations, and weapons, etc. in the Bleach series are named after musical groups. Bleach is what the band Nirvana was originally going to be called.

I thought he really just picked the name because he thought it sounded cool? I know he has made various different references to bleach in interviews and in the show but I recall him saying the above reason as to why he picked the name in some interview.

That sounds like Kubo Tite. He seems to do a lot of stuff because it's cool.

I always thought it was because bleach like..made stuff lose it's color (I'm thinking of clothes in particular here), and white= purity, which is sort of what the Soul Reapers do...erm..not that I really know what I'm talking about, I've only seen a few episodes.
