I don't think you have to defeat enemies to make them show up on the Veldt, just encounter them. I was having a hell of a time with Intangirs too and I decided that I would miss them this playthrough. But when I was on the Veldt learning magic later I encountered an Intangir. Perhaps you can kill and Intangir later on the Veldt.

Any monster you kill on the Veldt does not appear in your bestiary. I have the Intangir rage, however.

I guess I'll waste time in the Auction House until I can get the magicite that makes you learn Stop. It was Golem, was it?
