Thread: Firefox problem.

  1. #1

    Default Firefox problem.

Okay, I've used Firefox for about a year. But two monthes ago, it just stopped working. I'd click on it, then it'd open, but it won't load. So I click again and it freezes. So I have to open task manager and end the process. I thought my computer was the problem, so I just stopped using it for a week. But then a week became two monthes. I really missed my Firefox (seriously, IE sucks), so I uninstalled it and installed it again. I don't know what to do, it just won't work. What's wrong?

By the way, I attached pictures of how it stops working.

    Help please?

You should completely reinstall it, ergo:

    1. Uninstall Firefox
    2. Delete the Firefox directory/folder (default: C://Program Files/Firefox or something like it)
    3. Delete the Firefox directory/folder in My Documents
    4. Run a search for all files containing the word "Firefox" in them and see if you need those files, if not delete or rename them
    5. Run a virus scan with Dr. Web (never hurts)
    6. Run TuneUp Utilities 2007 and see what they say after the maintainance
    7. Install Firefox again
    8. Tell us if it worked

While your machine is booting hit F8 and go into safe mode w/ networking and try to launch firefox like that. Get back to us with the results.

Okay, I'm on safe mode right now. Tried opening it, but it still doesn't work. :/

Edit: I tried it again on safemode and it worked. I switched back, and it doesn't work. Wierd.

do you think maybe something on your computer might be blocking it? like maybe ...a firewall!

Yeah disable the windows firewall and any other firewall software you may have.

Okay, I disabled all the firewalls. I don't think that was the issue, cause it still wouldn't work. :\
