This may be a bad hint unless you really study your enemies, but the longer this takes the better the hints. Also try giving some reason to your answers, it's better than just guessing because you'll get closer to the answer.

Is it Sin? It's talking about spirit of death, and in X, Auron kept saying Spira was a death spiral, all going towards Sin or something like that. It was talking about forgetting to, and since it's the Eternal Calm, they probably tried to forget about Sin.
No to both, the last two lines contain two words that help describe the thing or in other words is another meaning for it.
