This is going to take a while to type out, so at the risk of having somebody post before I finish I'm not going to put a number one it. I may have posted it already in another thread just for the sake of getting a doomsday plan out there, but I'm too tired at the moment to check.
I was sitting in the back of the room during science class one day a few years ago while the teacher was talking about air pressure, and how in an inflated balloon the internal pressure it constantly pushing outward trying to escape; when a hole is poked into the balloon it all tries escaping from the hole at one the balloon explode from the pressure. At the moment I happened to be paying very little attention and was flipping through random pages in the textbook and saw a few pages on the structure of the planet.
The core of the earth is composed of dense metals that would be hot enough to change into their gas form; however, the extreme weight from the crust and mantle keep them mostly in solid and liquid form. Certainly there must be a lot of internal pressure caused by the metals trying to expand, right?
Hmmm... Extreme internal pressure... what would happen if you would drill a hole to the core of the earth? My theory suggests the same thing that happens when you shove a needle into a balloon, except on a much more violent scale. The force from solid metals instantly turning to gas and shooting from the core to the surface could be enough to destroy the planet, right? Well, the problem is finding the equipment.
If the planet isn't destroyed in a violent explosion it could still cause massive death in many ways. Metal gases filling the air... not only searing hot but also very toxic, right? And after the gases fill the air they're going to eventually cool and harden, causing metal to rain and hail onto the surrounding cities. And last but not least, the complete loss of the planet's core would probably cause serious imbalance in gravity... gravity is created by large and dense objects, so what happens when the dense planet core is no longer at the center of the planet?
Plenty of consequences there, but I think it all would be able to fall under "Death by drilling a hole to the core of the planet."
