If all you eat is mac and cheese, then that's the main meal. If you're eating fried chicken and mac & cheese, then the mac & cheese is the side dish.

A properly cooked macaroni cheese (which is a rarity, I must admit) would put any fried chicken to shame! You'll know a good macaroni cheese because it doesn't hold together well and often has small bits of ham/bacon/brocolli throughout. AND NO CHEDDAR. Ugh. I don't know much about cooking, but I know this!

Following the idea that whatever isn't over 90% meat is a side dish, though, I'll probably say that there are too many side dishes to choose from, although mashed potatoes would indeed be right up there.

That sounds really good...I need to try that. Hmm...favorite side dish would have to be french fries or mashed taters both with cheese.

they're soft, mushy, white, and sticks to the top of your mouth once in a while. What's not to like
