Default Jumari hits for 145,125,356 damage!

This is more of a trivia question than anything else, but which RPG has the highest damage cap, or single highest damage capable with a single combo or move, in gaming history?

Is that amount of damage necessary to complete any parts of the game, sidequest or otherwise, or it is just a quirk in the game's battle system?

It's a power-leveler's wet dream. Disgaea level cap is 9,999, to get the best stats you need to have reincarnated to save up thousands of levels and then done the best reincarnation again at level 9,999 and then make your way up to 9,999 again, plus you can level up the weapons to level 200 and give them specialists to make them really uber.

The main plotline itself can be finished at level 80-ish.

Several extra bosses, however, do have stats that obscenely high, especially with bills passed to make enemies stronger and what have you.

    Jesus friggin' Christ.

I would have said that in WCIII, in the DotA map (which is one giant, interactive, hostile RPG), Axe's Culling Blade deals 100 Million Damage to an enemy with less than a certain amount of HP. But good lord, 6.6 billion.

Besides Disgaea (which is pretty much unrivaled in terms of statistic caps, as Void mentioned), the Valkyrie Profile games have pretty high damage caps. In VP1, it wasn't too hard to do 1,000,000 damage in a single combo with the right setup on Freya, and with VP2 if you release your Einherjar perfectly you can make a single character pretty uber with enough stat-increasing items (a single character doing over 7,000,000 damage in one swipe is pretty neat). This is only really necessary if you are playing on a higher difficulty run and fighting the superbosses of course. The damage cap in VP1 is 99,999,999, but there's no way to achieve that much damage in one attack within the game. I don't honestly know what VP2's cap is, but I don't know why it'd be any greater.

Still, nothing will ever compare to Nippon Ichi's insanity.

From my experience, Maple Story Rivals Ragnarok Online when it comes to damage statistics in MMORPG... before Ragnarok's Private servers come in >_>

edit: In which then... you can pretty much have a Nippon style pwnage frenzy roundup super omega psycho... stuffs.

Geez louis, that's quite frightening. That's only 0.08% of the potential statitude increasing needed to complete the game. I may just get the pair out of sheer lolness.

I would also get VP2, but the arses refuse to release it in the EU

Has anyone ever achieved 9,999th level on Disgaea?

I would imagine the people that continually reincarnate their Magic Knights for damage record purposes probably have done so several times. There are power leveling strategies to achieve 9999 levels rather quickly in the strategy guide, although I don't remember any of them off-hand (something to do with Nekomatas).

You're looking for Wizardry, Maxx. I believe it is 1-5, although I have only heard of such a thing being achieved on the fifth installment. And only that with a code.
