Yep. Note how the "UFO" only shows against blue sky background. Blue screen special effects is older than dirt.

Nah, people would still be critical over an over-the-top and exaggerated outburst. I find gasping more believable than screaming, but if she said "...Oh sh**..." in a quiet sort of tone, then I'd believe it even better.

no, that still implies that they have grasped the idea of what the reprecussions of a UFO invasion are within a split second. The first instinct would be to confusion/lack of comprehension, I think.
It takes a moment to realize what you're looking at, and people generally will open their mouths to say things long before that moment is up.
