Thread: UK!

    Default UK!

Im in love with music from the UK or artists with english accents right now. I only know two artists, Lady Sovereign and Hadouken which are now two of my favorites. Part of it is the way they flow, and they have awesome accents. Can anyone reccomend some uk artists, preferably rap or techno?
It looks like the ground had a sex change.

They don't do rap and techno so much, but I like Keane and Franz Ferdinand

Dizzee Rascal is the pinnacle of grime. If you like Lady Sovereign & Hadouken! (which personally I don't), you'll be blown away by Dizzee.

    "Dream"
    "Fix Up Look Sharp"

And to completely change styles, there's Roots Manuva. He raps over an almost dub/dancehall kind of beat and honestly has one of the smoothest flows I've ever heard.

    "Witness (1 Hope)"
    "Too Cold"

As for electronic music, I'm gonna stray from the UK and go to France. You really should check out all the stuff Ed Banger Records puts out. In particular check out Justice and sebastiAn.

    Justice - "D.A.N.C.E"
an intro to the artists on Ed Banger
    here's that actual record

    And then there's Kavinsky, who's just...Kavinsky

    "Tessarossa Autodrive"

Oh, and Franz Ferdinand are from Scotland

She's not a rapper as such, but MIA is pretty good - her first album Arular was fantastic, and her second album Kala is out next week.

Also I second the mentions of Dizzee Rascal and Roots Manuva. And The Streets (the first two albums mainly, the last one was weak)

Thirding Dizzee Rascal. I'm not a grime fan, but he's so good it doesn't matter.

Dizzee doesnt even do grime anymore, he sold out like Lady Sovereign did. Listen to his older stuff when he was doing garage with Wiley.

    As for rap artists.....

    Sway
    Klashnekoff
Kano ( like Dizzee, was in the grime scene but sold out and became more commercial, still good )
    Roots Manuva
    Blak Twang
    Task Force
    Foreign Beggars
The Streets ( not hip hop but still good )
    Jehst

The best artists in the UK are the ones that stay underground and dont show their faces much

Lady Sovereign ruined Iron & Wine's set at Lollapalooza '06!

    Hot Chip's pretty good.

Roots Manuva is a god amongst men. And yeah, the first two Streets albums, specifically the first one are both awesome.
