New trailer. (And yes, it's an awesome one. Again.)
Final Fantasy IV en vidéo
Too bad there will only be an intro FMV...
That is amazing. It looks like everyone will have their part to play in the events to come.
I believe in the power of humanity.
Oh my God, that FMV sequence at the end almost made me wet my pants.
Good to know that after 2008 I can die happy.
Boy am I an unfunny ass.
Dubbed cutscenes and more amazing backstory... this is a must have!
Note the scene with Kluya attending to baby Cecil and his mother, as well as the scene of Cecil, Cain, and Rosa as children. The developers are making good on their word to add back story aspects originally left out of the game back in '91.
They should really knock off this compilation FMV at the beginning nonsense, already. If they're going to go out of their way to animate all these scenes they need to just weave them into the game where they belong. That's a pet peeve of mine. You'd think they'd want to avoid doing things that make the game seem more like "just a remake" and less like a fresh new game.
Sticking high-end FMV cut scenes in a game whose real-time visuals are of such disparate quality just makes for a disjointed experience. That developers began to realize this towards the end of the PS1 era (starting with Metal Gear Solid) is a good thing.
Reaching beautiful FMV sequences always gave me a sense of progression and accomplishment. As different as the visual quality may be, it rarely ever made any well paced game feel disjointed to me. There's nothing like a good FMV ending that goes places that the in-game engine just couldn't. Final Fantasy VIII is a perfect example of this.
I have to go with Necronopticous on this one. For in-game cutscenes with a great disparity between real-time graphics to make the game feel disjointed, it would have be hugely disparate or simply done bad.
There are many games which were able to do it well, most prominently the square releases on PS1. Looking at IVDS's ingame graphics, I have to say it wouldn't make it feel disjointed at all. All the FMVs have been amazing so far and I believe they would greatly magnify the impact of the story on the player if they were integrated.
I WANT THAT YESTERDAY!!!
Come on, SE. Give us a release date for the localisation already. Pretty please?
As nice as those FMVs look, there is only so much room you can work with on a DS cart. I'm glad they're not filling space that can be used for the actual game on lavish FMV sequences.
Also, has there been any extra mentioned on how the character system is going to work? With this whole 'inheritance' thing I'm beginning to wonder whether you'll be stuck with the same five characters end-game that you were in the original.
