Default Namco-Bandai announces 4 new "Tales of..." games. One of them will be for the Wii!=)

    AllRPG - Latest News

NeoGAF, via a Shonen Jump magazine scan and Namco-Bandai conference details, has details on four new Tales of... games that have been announced by Namco-Bandai.

Here are the names and the currently known details.

Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut: For the PlayStation 2, includes new difficulties, events, and etc.

Tales of Rebirth: Port of the PlayStation 2 game to the PSP.

Tales of Innocence: For the Nintendo DS, an all new title. Looks to be using an updated version of the engine used for Tales of the Tempest (the DS game that hasn't been localized for North America).

Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk: For the Nintendo Wii, this game will take two place after the events of Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube. The two new main characters will apparently meet the original's cast, but it is unclear whether the original cast will be able to join your party.

All of those titles are expected to be released in 2008, but Tales of Innocence may be able to hit a 2007 release date. Of course, no localization has been announced for these games.

An important detail to note is that Namco-Bandai has announced that the Nintendo DS will be the lead platform for all new Tales of... games in the future.

Be sure to check back for updates.

Great Jubbah! A sequel to Symphonia? I am so buying a Wii for the sole reason of playing that one single game. I wish I was kidding, but I bought a Dreamcast and Gamecube both for a single game lawlo. Don't think I won't do it, people.

So now all the main games in the series are going to be on the DS?
Well, at least I can see what they're gonna do with the series on the current generation consoles with the Tales of Symphonia sequel...kinda.

Not really a remake remake. More like a re-release with new features, kinda like FF XII:International Zodiac job System. At least I think so anyway.

If we are lucky we might see two of those games released outside of Japan.

Also, moving the series to the NDS seems like kind of an odd move since Tales of the Tempest was somewhat of a failure compared to the rest.

This is what I would calling "milking a dead cow".

I mean, the Tales series is great, and you won't find a bigger fan of the series than myself, but isn't this going just a bit too far? Is there really enough fan interest to support all these games?

They announced a sequel to Tales of Symphonia. I'm sure that alone will generate enough fan interest.

Personally I'm more excited about the PSP port of Rebirth and the 'Director's Cut' of ToDr. This means that there's another chance these games will receive an English release. Since they actually bothered to release Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology (they never released any of the other ToW games before, since they had JP-exclusive game characters), there's a possibility.
