Shopping in the rubble.

If you were some evil over-lord that had the power to send the world into ruin, why would you do it? What could you possibly gain from a world composed of desert, rubble, dust and the occasional patch of hidden human survivors?

What on earth do villains gain from destroying the world?

Can you see any reason why it might be a good idea?

So they could remake it the way they want? Take out everything they think is bad (destroying everything good would just be collateral I guess...) and replace it with what they think is good? I dunno, it's an interesting question.

Only idiots or nutcases destroy the world. All the villains with half a brain threaten to destroy the world then hold it for ransom.

they're tired of remembering all the people that made fun of them in junior high and want to wipe out their existence from all memory

Have you seen the trailer for the second Batman movie (The Dark Knight)? Alfred's explanation for Joker is so accurate it made me wet myself in a metaphorical manner. Good thing I hadn't drank all my soda at the time.

I can't find it but basically some people just want to see things get destroyed. There's no rhyme or reason or logic or motivation. Scary stuff.
