Looks like playing any sound in Vista will temporarily cripple your computer's ability to talk to other computers over the network, which includes the Internet as well for the most of you that use routers - transfer speeds drop drastically, even to 0 for a few seconds in the case of Windows making it's usual random sound effects 

 Especially great for online gamers
