I have the complete beastiary except for one Elite Mark (Yiazmat) and one Boss (Omega Mk. XII). Which will soon be remedied.
Yes, to get the Sky Pirates Den sprite you have to get all rare game too.
Me and my kids have dragon eggs:
It's time consuming, but worth it, I guess.
EOFF needs a resurgence to it's former glory.
Beastiary tips:
1. Find the rare game as you move through the game (except for the 31 hunt trophies)! If you wait untill the end to try and get them all it takes forever!
2. Some of the beasts drop/steal great armor, weapons, and/or accesories for you to use during the progression of the game. The items dropped are way more powerfull then the ones you can buy at the shops if you do them as you reach a new area! If you wait untill the end the are worthless.
3. They are good check pionts to see if you are leveling your characters enough before moving on to the next area.

do you have to kill the amounts of monsters it says on the side of all monsters to complete the bestiary and get bagamnan for the sky pirates den thingy
No, you only need at least one of each type.

Other than that the secondary data gives hints about loot, Bazaar items and the like in addition to some interesting background information about locations, people, and myths of Ivalice. Not really required but nice to have.

I have Dalaan already but not a complete Bestiary. I think you get him for filling in the maps.
i had dalan i just completed all the maps. the last map i had to get was the one where you fight the seer
