Oh, it is fun if I can make my own cool weapon, from "the strongest" weapon we know, such as Ultima and so on ,to become more stronger weapon using combination item and magic. But of course, it will be hard to get ;p, unless using gameshark.. (and I will never use it!)

I'd like a more stronger monster growth after 100 level, and also our level and stats. in another words, unlimited stats! it is boring to fight in the same tactics, same level (stuck level).
    You mean like Disgaea?

I wouldn't mind a return of the Tactics Job Class system but it may need to be altered a bit for traditional JRPG combat. Looking at FFXIII though, I highly doubt the game will have a Job Class system or if it did, the jobs would probably have different names and abilities (though the concepts will be the same). Chances are, it will be closer to VII or X in this regard. What would be really neat is the return of unique abilities (that can't be transferred) so the cast can be unique from each other outside of Limit Breaks.

I believe the developers said that they thought the License Board gave the player too much freedom and that they want to keep each character a bit more unique. Can't remember for the life of me where I read this, though. But I'm certain it was said in some interview or so...

I agree with Crossblades, but nevertheless,it's a very interesting article (although a bit old).

I guess this was the reason SE released FF XII:International Zodiac Job System in Japan

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

I don't care either way actually. It doesn't have to be fixed jobs per se' just have each character a unique abilty (than't not a limit break or whaterver they will be called this time around).

It doesn't necessarily have to be something traditional that would pigeon-hole a character as a thief or dragoon. For instance, Lightning is said to have the ability to affect time so she can slow it down and fight in "bullet time". That could be a unique ability only for her, while other characters get something else.

    The way I see it.
Its somewhat Fixed and somewhat custom.

I would like the characters to have different Stat growth.
But not limited in the Magic abilities they can learn.
I also would want not completly unbanlanced characters like XI (Warrior 250% HP 10% MP)
I want the characters to grow independly while staying flexible to the "Job" you give them "A PS1/PC FF Handle Everything Character"

For me, character set up is a huge part of games, therefore I like systems where you have to spend allot of time and thought mix and matching abilities (FFVII, FFT). I dislike any system that forces you to make permanent choices. At lv5 I have no idea what skills or stats I should be stacking towards, and if I later found that I made a poor choice and am stuck with it, I'm far more likely to just stop playing.

To sum it up I would say I'm a fan of the 'learn everything but equip few' philosophy, where you can learn all of the abilities in the game, but are severely limited in what you can currently have active. As for abilities specific to characters, although I like this in theory, I dislike more when I have to chose between characters I like as characters, and characters who's stats fit my playstyle.

While I wouldn't say FF5 was not a good system, I would prefer one that required a little more involved setup that allows more complicated setups, like FFT. (Which if you haven't played is just like FF5 but in addition to equipping a skillset from another class you also equip a reaction ability, support ability and move ability)

A job change system that still keeps the characters with unique uses.

    Or

A similar system to FF6, fixed jobs and lots of characters.

I'd love the latter to return.

Indeed, it would work for XIII, but they would need a different one for Versus as apparently that's going to be more individual.
