Either short or long is fine so long as you don't look like a girl, don't make it too messy and can cut it off without crying like a pansy.
EDIT: Should be noted that while younger, girls dig long hair. When you get into 18+, the more intelligent and non-dead-end girls will find short hair more attractive. This is because guys with long hair very rarely have money, and girls love a guy with money.
