    I agree.

Otherwise I'd have to say Indiana Jones. Certainly my favourite film protagonist of anything I've seen. I have smiled in this thread to see that a lot of the suggestions (Hermione, Frodo, Kazuo) were originally literary characters.

Edit: Since you wanted a picture:

Lets get some classic roles in here:

Rick Blaine in Casablanca is one of those perfect movie heroes. Hard to pick a single Bogart role but it was either this or Maltese Falcon.

Captain von Rauffenstein in Grand Illusion. Eric von Stroheim was billed in Hollywood as 'the man you love to hate', but in a few films the director gave him a chance to play a complex tortured character rather than a cardboard villain. His best role, up there with his work in Sunset Boulevard.

BTW, if you haven't seen these films, go rent them. You'll thank me later.

Death - The Seventh Seal and Last Action Hero (you know why)

    Edward - Edward Scissorhands

I seriously can't see them surpassing some characters like; Han Solo, Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Agent Smith, Ash, Caster Troy, Donnie Darko, James Bond, John McClane (sp?), Freddy Kruger and JP (grandma's boy)

True. On which note I also add Boba Fett to the list.

Is this thread about the most famous or the ones we personally like?
Because if it is about the most famous/classic characters then Seth Gecko and Leonard Shelby don't belong here either.
