    Default Fate/Stay Night

Who likes this series? I only started watching it this week but I found it very well done and enjoyable. A nice balance between action and character development.

    Now some random thoughts:

    1) I got into this anime completely backwards. I was doing a search for something else on ebay when I came across the 1/6 Saber action figure with metal armor and sword for $450. Luckily I was able to find another for several hundred less. Very cool, but that got me to wondering what the heck Fate was.

    2) A lot of the characters remind me of characters in other anime/games. Rin is a bossy overachiever like Asuka in Evangelion. Illya is a precocious aristocratic girl who gets a childlike crush on the hero, much like Iris in Sakura Wars. Most of all Saber reminds me of Lenneth in Valkyrie Profile. In fact most of the characters could be easily transported in that game.

    3) I seriously love the interaction between Caster and her master (SPOILER)Soichiro. It's the coolest example of 'evil love' I've seen since Ashram and Pirotess in the original Record of Lodoss Wars.

    4) The only thing I don't like so far is the late appearance of (SPOILER)Gilgamesh in a classic deus ex machina style. I found his grand entrance annoying.

I love that show. Seen the whole thing, intend to get the Box Set when its out.

Rider and Berserker were by far my favorite Servants.

Caster and Rider are the best characters. By far. Then again, the original game/interactive novel offers a different insight toward the plots than the anime does (mostly the Fate Arc). I enjoyed it thoroughly, except for Shiro.

Do not let Ultima Shadow see this thread. He'll plotz.

I watched the first few episodes of the anime. The animation looks gorgeous!

The anime is good, real good. I watched it as it was being released, it killed waiting for the next ep, and now, I'm doing that every season, and it's eating my HD space.

It's a fun series that's even more entertaining to watch when you know it was originally a porn game. Oh the jokes that can be made.

It's interesting that the writing and characterization was well done enough that hentai elements are not even necessary.

However there are two scenes in the anime that make me think they were abbreviated from the game:

The second time Shiro (SPOILER)catches Saber in the bathtub and she's actually flustered and embaressed. As opposed to the first time where she's totally unselfconcious.

The scene where Rin (SPOILER)transfers some of Shiro's magic circuits into Saber. Of course it requires them to be in close physical contact. I could even imagine Rin saying in the game: "The only way to save Saber is to sleep with her!"

There's a lot of them. The first one that comes to my mind is the part where (SPOILER)Ilya puts Shiro in a trance. Another portion of anime which mashed up parts was (SPOILER)Caster's dream-world outside of the Shrine. This portion of episodes pulls elements from all three arcs.

If they ever make another F/SN anime, they need to do the Heaven's Feel Arc. It is by far the most superior.
