since it's a silhouette, you don't have the information necessary to determine which way she is actually spinning. The way that she bounces up and down further goes to mask it. So your brain has to fill in the body features for itself (ie: 'her left leg is in front of her right leg' or 'her right leg is in front of her left leg')

kinda related is something we did in physics a week or so ago 'a conservative reaction can be taped and played backwards and will look exactly the same' xD

When it first started, counter-clockwise. It went back and forth for awhile, and eventually I was able to change it when I wanted to. I just focused on switching which leg was in front whenever the legs were together. It's not that hard.

Guys, she does switch the leg she's balancing on. You have to watch for aaaages, but she does definitely switch. I've checked twice. The picture just flips round by itself.

Nah, there has to be some illusion here. My sister and I were looking at it at the same time and she saw it counter clockwise while I saw it clockwise.

Nope, it's definitely not random, 'cause I just figured out accidentally a way to make her switch at will. Someone else linked me to this so I did it again and ended up doing this:

My monitor is however far away from my face, maybe like a foot and a half or something. Anyway how I did it was to like, put both my hands together like I was praying and then make a gun shape with my hands, you all know what I mean. and then I had my fingers lined up with the woman on screen but so I could still see most over her as well. Then I focused on my fingers so she was just out of focus in the background, and then rotated my fingers clockwise or anticlockwise, and if you keep it so you can only see her out of focus, you can pretty much change her direction at will (I can, anyway.) I can get her to turn back and forth mid spin and everything

edit: heh, don't even have to make it that complicated, just stare right at her and then move one of your hands in front of your face clockwise or counterclockwise and you can get her to change

I used Psy's method and can now switch quite easily.

Exactly. I can see her change directions by watching her foot. It just takes concentration.

EDIT: I can make her switch at will in my mind. Does that indicate equal left-right brain use?

I make it so that when the leg's sticking out to the right, it's going clockwise, yet when it sticks out to the left, it goes anticlockwise, so I effectively have both going on at once.

What's that supposed to mean then?

It took me a while (about 10 minutes) to get it, but it involves your brain interpreting where the swinging foot is going : in front of the leg (counter clockwise) or behind the leg (clockwise).

I eventually control it by jolting my head around (just as her extended leg is at the peak of turning)

Try it it hurts and it's fun

Anyone that can make her switch at will is bipolar. This makes you superior to homo sapians and makes you the next step in human evolution. Feel proud.

As I've posted in the other thread about this.

This makes no sense to me, she's turning anti-clockwise, how could looking at it change that?!?!?
