Thread: Cloud is...

  1. #1

    Default Cloud is...

The eyes on search system is balls.

I don't know if this question has ever been asked or answered in any thread/forum related to Final Fantasy VII or the characters therefrom.

But recently looking at a picture of Cloud from Kingdom Hearts, I was struck by memories of scenes from the Crisis Core trailers. It always had me dumbfounded that he had such an ugly wing on his back. Then I realized it . . . Cloud is a demon. A planet-born anomaly of mass potential with an undeniable fate driving him toward the destruction of the "angel" Sephiroth. The characters Angeal and Genesis both end up with an angelic wing like Sephiroth's.

Sephiroth and Genesis were both SOLDIERs created by ShinRa via Mako and Jenova cells. Angeal strikes me as bearing a greater similarity to Zack as the experiments don't really seem to affect them. However, Angeal eventually reacts to the experiment where Zack does not.

It seems that Sephiroth sees Zack as a common human: a neutral being with no potential. But you can see it when Sephiroth plunges his sword through Cloud: he sees deeper potential in this creature who seemed to not be affected by the experiments but continues to defy him through sheer willpower. He says it's impossible and asks him what he is.

    I say he is a Demon. Cloud . . . is a demon.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

I don't know... There's definately something unique about him because he was the only sephiroth "CLONE" to succeed, I think the game explains this as the hatred that Sephiroth gave him. This may also be why he was able to defeat him in the Nibelheim reactor. I always assumed it was a phenomenon alike to the "Warriors of the Light" thing.

    I don't think he's a demon.

But that hair makes him special.

I don't know. Are you saying that the Sephiroth which is the boss of that game didn't succeed? I guess he turned evil and summoned meteor and whatnot, but I still think he was a pretty close copy of the original Sephiroth.

Cloud, on the other hand, wasn't anything like the original Sephiroth. He may have been a success in the sense that he became a person of his own free will and thought and acted for himself. I'm not going to dismiss this demon theory until after I've played the game and watched the movie again. And that could be a while because I have many games I haven't finished yet that I have to do first. I don't know. I never even considered that Cloud was a demon before.

    Present more evidence, please?

He was mentioned in a prophecy. Thus, he has cababilities and 'rights' that no one else has. Thus the reason why he was the only 'clone' to 'succeed'/not go nucking futs.

    And the hair....

I always figured the wing had something to do with him being slowly consumed by the darkness in KH, not that he was some demon...

Here we have a case of someone pulling something out of thin air, like a magician and forgetting that its only a game.

Never mind the fact that he's a clone of the One Winged Angel. Isn't he? Man, it's been so long that I think I might have to check on the specifics.

He was the only successful Sephiroth "CLONE" because he was the one who at The Reunion gave Sephiroth the Black Materia. At that very scene, Hojo remarks "Hmph, only a failure made it here?" or something like that. Also he wasn't a failure, him and Zack broke out before receiving numbers and were referred to by letters instead.

Cloud is extremely homosexual. It's just too bad LsaysH got suspended from YouTube before we could all learn the truth.

Here we have a case of someone fearing any possibility that someone could guess at the true intentions of a game creator without having all that much to go on. Whatever. It's just a theory. I never said it was fact.

What was the point of this post?

If the bat-wing is a symbol of Cloud's descent into darkness, why does Sephiroth (who appears in the same game) have a bird's wing? (always more reminscent of the angelic form)
It's obvious he's been consumed by the darkness as well, so what's going on?

My theory is that's a reversal of our most common perception of good v evil. The most common portrayals of angelic and demonic creatures have been reversed because mankind has no true knowledge as to the form of these creatures.

Kingdom Hearts Cloud and FF7 Cloud are 2 completly different entities. I think they added the wing just to make Cloud the opposite of Sephiroth. (Sephiroth has an angel wing on his right side, Cloud has a demon wing on his left side. Sephiroth's hair is smooth, long and silver, Cloud's is spikey short and gold, etc.)
Although, I like forming theories as much as the next guy. I belive that If I were to incorporate the demon wing to FF7 Cloud, It would show the opposition he has to Sephiroth, ever since he was put in that artificial womb. (My guess is that the JENOVA cells gave him the devil wing)
    OR,
That's just what happens when you're put in artificial womb as opposed to a natural one. (Lucercia)
Anyway it's FF7, anyone is allowed to have his/her own theory. (That's why I don't try to convince anyone anymore about anything)

Maybe the wings arent their physical state of decent into darkness or light but their mental perception. In kh Cloud is confused and lost and thinks he's decending into darkness and the wing reflects that, Sephiroth thinks he's a God and his mind is completely clear and so he gets the angel wing.

    But thats just a theory
    Kefka's coming, look intimidating!

The wing may be a symbol of Cloud being engulfed in darkness, as far as I care...

    But what about Vincent's costume?
