Fighting and collecting gold will in turn make you buff.

The game can be a bit grindish at this stage. You'll just have to spend (a lot of) time killing Ogres for cash and exp. By the time you've completed the marsh cave you'll have enough cash to buy the spells before you set off to the wider world.
There is no signature here. Move along.

You're going to need to do a fair bit of fighting if you want to outfit your mages with every spell you want. You'll have to fork over 20,000 gold or more for some of the best spells in the game.

Depends what version you're playing. If you're playing the GBA version, black magic pretty much fades into the background late into the game. I prefer a party with a Fighter, Thief, White Mage, and Red mage. White magic is much more useful than black. Or if you're playing the NES version, magic is pretty much essential, so spend spend spend~.

GBA version had better hit rates on most characters except black belt if i recall.. They really upped the thief's damage capability early on.

In the GBA version, however... magic is more Fixed/smaller range and not like the NES.

Fire won't vary from 10-40 with a level 1 black mage... iirc it hits for about 31-33 most of the time and it strengthens with caster stats.

This makes a certain 100-400damage spell later on alot more useful on GBA than it was for me on the playstation version....

But melee is upgraded in general on the GBA, so yes I can see your point.

By the end of the game, you'll have insane amounts of money and nowhere to spend it.

This is why the game's easier without a Black Mage.

Neither have I. I'm always getting money whenever I level, it's like killing two birds with one stone. Plus, I always have a Monk in my party, and we all know he doesn't need much

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

I never really had money problems.

If I was like Cloud I don't think I would have taken that test.
Changed to stop Jessweeee♪ from going insane. Is that better?

You obviously haven't played FF2j yet...I was a pauper throughout the game, no matter what I did.

By the end of the game, I couldnt carry anymore cash, and I had all the magic's, and level 70 on all my characters, with optimized weapons and armour.

It kind of sucked taking on the last boss, it was no fun.
