    Default One-Hit Wonders!

So, what's your favourite one-hit wonder?

For me there are many great ones, but some of my absolute favourites are probably:

    - Vanilla Ice - "Ice Ice Baby"
    - Carl Douglas - "Kung Fu Fighting"
    - Baha Men - "Who Let the Dogs Out?"

And now that we're at it.. What is it that makes one-hit wonders so darn great? Is it the cheesiness, that they're just guilty pleasures or what is it? Discuss.

lol, actualy the entire Debut from Crazy Town was good, interesting thing though is that the song Butterfly is credited in the lyric sheet as being written by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers...
one of my favorite 1 hitters was Jane Child - I Don't Wanna Fall In Love

arguably, crazy town is a HUGE one hit wonder, since they only had one hit and most people don't even know the name of the band when they hear the song...the fact that YOU have heard more of their stuff doesn't mean that they're that great, which i'm sure they are.

the reason i don't consider CT 1-hit is because they had 2 singles out before Butterfly, Black Cloud & Darkside(fet Jay Gordon of Orgy) that in my opinion are better than Butterfly, honestly Butterfly is an annomaly that doesn't even really fit the mood or theme of the disk and sticks out like a thumb hit with a hammer... i read in an article once that CT never wanted Butterfly released as a single as it would make them fall into the 1 hit wonder nitche, but the execs assured them that after their first 2 singles the world was ready for a more radio friendly song (a summer song) from CT and they would not be forgotten because they built a fan base already on the strength of Black Cloud and Darkside, unfortunatealy due to the hyper poppy hooks of Butterfly they were quickly dismissed as a serious band and the old fans they got from their first 2 singles dwindled out cuz they didn't wanna be associated with the blatant commercialism that the execs turned Butterfly into, a song not written by CT but by RHCP instead... tragic really that this kind of thing can happen to a band because the company wants to increase sales at a faster rate...

I can't name one, as I tend to strongly dislike one-hit wonders. I sort of liked James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" (guessing that it was a one-hit wonder, haven't heard anything about the man since they stopped playing his song.).

Oh God yes! I remember walking around while singing: "I'm blue, da-ba-dee-da-ba-daa" and so on. Man, that song was really something

Ugh, that song made me want to scream! I hated it so much and it was played ALL the time.

Kind of like mainstream pop and hip-hop today.

Baz Luhrmann - Everyone's Free To Wear Sunscreen

    XD

Also Your Woman by White Town, and the remix of Brimful of Asha by Cornershop. Cornershop are actually a great band, was a real shame to see them ignored subsequently.
