Probably Balthier. He was interesting enough to make cutscenes with him enjoyable to watch and also managed to ease the storyline along too. His character is central to the plot and as he develops later in the game he becomes a much more well-rounded person, I feel, what with the whole (SPOILER)slightly mad father shebang.
