I have never played it before. And I wanted to know.
What system is it on?
good cutscenes?
likeable characters?
worth the time to play?

Cudos to Polaris for the Sig
"Your eyes can be so cruel, Just as I can be so cruel."
Its on Playstation 1, but its graphics are on the top end for most PS1 games. The cutscenes are pretty exciting, one of the better parts of the game imo. Some of the characters can get on your nerves. super-emo main character, hyperactive sidekicks, and although the only real love story driven storyline, its also rather weak imo. The junction system is needlessly confusing as wellWhat system is it on?

Its worth the time to play yes, but I consider it one of the weaker FF games *ducks*

Well, it has one of the most moving love stories in the series.
It's widely concidered to be a somewhat "stiff" game, though, because of the complicated Junction system and the rather slow pace.
I say give it a try, but don't expect too much at once.
This game needs some time in order to grow on you.
It has a great story (confusing though) and Junction system takes time and the graphics are great compared to other ps1 games and has a cute love story if you have the time you should try the game out![]()
Good Graphics.
Aside from that though, its seriously lacking. In all Catagories.
Well, the musics good too. But the game itself, not that good.
Not the greatest Final Fantasy ever but still very good and worth playing at least once for all the reasons mentioned.
If I was like Cloud I don't think I would have taken that test.
Changed to stop Jessweeee♪ from going insane. Is that better?
I personally dislike this game for many reasons, however you should play it anyway so you can see whether or not you like it. Personally I found the characters boring, the only ones that got any development were Squall, Laguna and Rinoa, though the development they got made the story worse in my opinion. I loathe Rinoa. She's probably my most hated FF character. The only story is the Love story and thats pretty weak itself, though if you play you should see why.
Most peoples problems with this game is the Junction system but I actually found that quite fun. What I didn't find fun was the Drawing magic part.
Responding to the post of an FF VIII hater? When will you silly fans ever learn that can only lead to a response of even more hate?
The STory isn't all that great. It had potential to be Great. In fact FF VIII had a lot of great Ideas. THe problem is Square took all those great Ideas andon them. The GF Memory thing? Not a bad Idea. However it realy didn't effect anything in the story. Accept making Irvine look like a total douche.
I mean he doesn't have a problem with putting a bullet in his Adels head, regardless of the fact she raised him. (The reason he coudln't shoot is he was nervous he would miss, it didn't seem to have anything to do with Adel.)
There is virtually no character develpoment for anyone accept for Squall and Rinoa. Both of which are really annoying.
The Love triangle between Squall, Seifer, and Rinoa? Not really a bad Idea, but not original. Not that it mattered, as it really didn't effect anything.
Ultimecia? Not a bad Idea again, villian from the future. Wants to rule all time. But why? What are the reasons? Is she really just that much of a bitch?
FF VIII is the horrible Catastrophe that comes about when you try to shove to many things into one game.
In FFVIII:
- You won't have to busy yourself with leveling its characters!
- Triple Triad is very, very fun and addictive!
- You can obtain nearly all items that are used for upgrading characters' weapons by refining cards!
- Selphie is very cute!
- Each location has a unique appearance and a special atmosphere!
- Moombas are very cute!
- Its ending is great (Laguna x Raine might melt you)!
Its dialogue is annoying, but you should play, play, play it!
It's also available on PC but you'll need a patch or something to play it on XP
Its a very enjoyable game
Kefka's coming, look intimidating!
Have a nice day!!
One of the reason FF VIII gets a bad rep is because of the VII fanboys. They claim it's too complicated, or lacklustre. Chances are they're just too stupid to play it.
The Junctioning system is overwhelming, but AT FIRST ONLY. Why? Because there aren't many skills to use with it yet. You aren't sure what you are doing is correct, when you probably are doing just fine (the game does not allow for bad moves.) Junctioning basically means you are taking character A and GF's (summoned monsters) B-however many you choose, and they are leveling together. The GF boosts your player with stats and magic. I thought it was very well executed. It doesn't take a PhD to work this beast.
I prefer VIII over VII anyday. the whole ensemble just trumps VII.
FF VIII may not be the greatest FF but sure is one of the best! I just love it. The story is really exciting and moving develops extremely well. It's a fantastic game and I just don't have words to express how much I like it so just play it and you'll see for yourself if you think it's worth. Still I do recommend it to you ! ;P
Playstation Part 1.
Yes, in my opinon some of the best came from VIII.
Very likeable, but you need to give them time, as they are not as they appear but FFs are like that which is why I love them. I also might be saying that since most of the characters remind me of people I knew, and the main reminded me of myself when I was younger - so FFVIII is pretty close to home for me.
Hell yes! Infact I'm not even sure that this needs answering.worth the time to play?
By the way it's my 2nd.
It's worth playing just to break it. You can have the game broken before you reach Timber.
