    Default Low-Polygon Character

    Update!
    Final product, check out the details on page 2.



    For those that are interested:

    Note: Original size is 1024x1024.

    This is for my last assignment in my principles of 3D modelling unit for the trimester. We have to model, texture, rig and animate a low-polygon character (limit was 3,000 triangles).

    I just finished modelling out the character, some of you may guess where I got my idea from, and I reached 2854 triangles. I now have to rig it (skinning is going to be the worst bit) and then texture it (somewhat fun).

    So yeah, took me around 2 days to sketch out the image planes, and 3 days to model it out. I'm hoping that rigging and skinning only take around 2-3 days, and then I can focus on texturing it.

    You texture that with Pirate Red Mage colours and it'll officially look awesome.

    I think it looks really good so far. It resembles a FF III DS model and I guess it wouldn't look too out of place in the actual game... too bad there is not Pirate job there

    I agree with Maxx Power, it should definitely get Pirate Red Mage colors!

    That's really an amazing low-poly model. Is it intended for a game engine by chance?

    I'd love to see what that could look like with some good normals baked onto it. This is some quality work.

    But never put yourselves down, you should be able to do anything you want as long as you put your mind to it.

    Well, the engines we use are the colleges own built one, but I don't think we're putting it into an engine. It'd be nice if our lecturer did, just to show us, but it doesn't matter I guess.

    Also, I'm not sure exactly how to normal map something. Lame, hey? XD Maybe over the break I will look into it and try it out!

    Edit: Just thought I'd show that it is a fairly smooth model (at least, for the polycount).

    I just noticed now it only seems to have three fingers... :o would you go over your maximum poly count if you added one per hand?
