As long as they money actually goes for something good then I don't see the big deal. Having a cleft pallet sucks. It can range from having a funny looking lip, requiring one or two surgeries, to completely not having a roof to your mouth, so that your mouth and nasal cavity are the same thing, requiring regular surgeries for the rest of the individual's life.

I have twins in my family with the condition. The little girl, when she was born, had no roof to her mouth so her boogers just came out of her mouth.
