Engelbert Humperdinck lives near me as does Roger Daltrey. The town also invented Stilton Cheese, the Pork Pie and the phrase "paint the town red". Madelaine McCann's mother also works in the town.

Plus a relatively nearby school has Stephen Fry, Jay Kay and Bruce Dickinson as past pupils.

Also the town where i spent most of my life boasts Daniel Lambert as a famous ex-resident

as wellas Malcolm Christie (footballer), Lewis Moody (rugbyist, actually from a village just down the road), John George Haigh, (the "acid bath murderer") and Colin Dexter (Inspector morse author). It also appears in Middlemarch, The Da Vinci Code and Pride and Prejudice.
