Default New Street Fighter info coming 12/06

The other thread is a little too old to bump.

Word has it that Capcom is going to be releasing info on the game on 'Thursday'. And that's it.

Whether or not that means 'Thursday' in Japan, that just might mean 'tonight' for us. I'm lookin' forward to it.

What I'm interested to know is the character roster, and how many characters are in the game, maybe 24-30?.
I'd love to see many comebacks, specially Cammy.

Hopefully they will tell us whether it is 2D or 3D. And what console/s it will be on. Thats the only infomation im asking for, the rest they can keep to themselves.

I think they'll first release it on arcades.

And, I hope it'll released on the PS3 later.

I heard somewhere that the graphics will be like the Okami game. What do you think?

I'm pretty sure it's going to be a brand new cast, as it always has been for each numerical increment in the series. Of course they'll probably keep the typical carry-overs, Ken, Ryu, Chun-Li, Akuma, etc. I'm actually hoping for a smaller cast this time, I'd like to see them take more time balancing a smaller cast than adding a bunch of new characters into the mix.

    If it's 3D I'll cry.

Arcade is all that matters. The "teaser trailer" for the game featured a short brawl between Ken & Ryu that was done in 3D watercolor-looking art, very much like Okami. However, I highly doubt that it was meant to reflect the actual look or feel of the game, and tend to think it was more focused on letting people know that Street Fighter 4 was definitely coming.

Anyway, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to a weird or traditional watercolor art style, but 3D would totally kill it for me.

Arcade isn't all that matters to me, since I'd like to actually get to play the game. But if their past actions are any indication, it'll probably be on every console for the next 5 years. I hope it's not 3D, but I think Capcom could still make a good game out of a 3D fighter. It wouldn't feel very Street Fighter, though, and I doubt they'll do that.

Arcade versions of fighters are important because they allow the developers to examine the strengths and weaknesses of each character as played by those crazy people who do nothing but play arcade fighters, and then use that information to rebalance the characters so it's less likely that one or two characters have a giant advantage over everyone else.

They're also important because they're really the only way that fighting games should be played.

Unless, you know, you don't like pissing away money on every single match you ever play.

A Wii version would probably work if it was designed around the classic controller and was 2D. :P

Well of course it's important. But I'd choose playing Street Fighter 4 on my Xbox 360 over never getting to play it, which is probably what would happen if it was arcade-only. Besides, as consoles have progressed, I think if Capcom could put some work into it they could develop a perfectly good port of an arcade version. Then there's just the matter of shelling out for an arcade stick if you think they must be played that way.

It's not just about the control scheme, it's about the environment and competition. It's about playing an arcade game in an arcade. It's sort of a social thing, but ultimately a distinct type of enjoyment that is certainly not attainable by playing games at home, by yourself or exclusively with friends.

It isn't that I'm opposed to home versions, but I don't really have any interest in them aside from practice. If you haven't played your favorite fighting games competitively at the arcade, you're really missing out on something special.

Arcades get no love these days.

Yeah, that's the problem. Arcades are awesome, but they're a dying (or practically dead in the US, it seems) breed. If I could saunter downtown into a poorly-lit, seedy arcade of cacophonous noises and flashing game machines, I'd be all over that. They're just damn hard to find, and that makes the experience rare. You're lucky to have access to a good one.

Well, at least there are some places with arcade games at my city.
Maybe it'll be a hit the game at the arcade gets crowded. But unfornately, most of the fighting games are King of the Fighters...and few Marvel Vs Capcom 1 & 2 at some places.

And, hey, I do want brand new characters also, but if there's a possibility to add old, yet classic ones, I'll be pretty happy!

And let's hope it has an awesome soundtrack, too.

I could be at an arcade in fifteen minutes by foot if I left now. :p And another one in a half an hour.
