They're both worth it since it's an awesome game.
But I'd make sure to play the SNES version at least until the episode when you save Celes, otherwise you get deprived of a great scene.
Actually, I believe the Celes beating scene is in the GBA ROM as well and could be unlocked via some debugging or ROM hacking, but I have no proof to demonstrate this at the moment (though I have my very good reasons to think so).

Oh I've played through the SNES (and PSX) versions before for dinner. And yes, deprived indeed of a great scene with Celes dinner. Amazing how a single current event can screw up a permanent fixture of a game or film for dinner. Removing all reference to the WTC from Spiderman was fair enough for dinner, but this was kinda silly really for dinner.

I really enjoyed the GBA version and would really recommend it to you. As a fellow Brit, my first experience of FFVI was the PSX version and I'm slightly stunned to admit that I completed that version. Perhaps I was a masochistic 12/13 year old or something. GBA version, however, has nice extras, is nice and smooth and an improvement over the original really. Only complaint is the lack of Son of Submariner, but otherwise it's well worth a whirl.
Not my words Carol, the words of Top Gear magazine.

I thought the SNES version changed the Celes scene at the beginning of WoR into a "leap of joy"? If they changed that in GBA, too, I probably won't be getting that one either in the future. Although last time I did save Cid, but the other option is just a timeless scene that really defines just how good VI is.

Out of all versions, I prefer the RPGOne translation of the FFVIj rom. IMO it makes it much more adult of a game, when it kinda feels kiddy playing even the PSX version (I can only imagine what the nintendo versions are like). I would recommend getting a way to play it on a tv with a controller, I'm gonna try to do this with a ps3 when i get one...

Nope. (SPOILER)Celes tries to commit suicide if Cid dies in the GBA version as well. The only scene I witnessed to be removed was (SPOILER)Celes being beaten in South Figaro. Which is strange because later (SPOILER)Celes still stabs Kefka.

Actually FF6 didn't see a release in the UK until 2002, so the nostalgia is pretty much nonexistent; although
I live in the UK. And it was realesed sometime in the 90s when I was quuite young - so yeah there is a lot of nostaliga.

And what's wrong with the PSX version? Isn't it the same as the Snes? Cause I see no different.

It's got horrible loading times, that's what. All the extras can be downloaded from the Internet, so it's not really worth it.

What playstation are you using? Because I've got the PSX version, and it loads almost instantly...

And by extras, do you mean the monster guides and stuff?

I've played it on PS2 and it's still slow. And by extras I believe he means cinematic clips and such. The bestiary is included in the GBA version, as well as the music player.

Nope, most people say it's slow so I guess you're one lucky guy this time.
