I happen to know FFVII fans that hate the spins-off, so it's not true that all those who hate spins-off are people who don't like FFVII. Heck, I like FFVII (not my favourite, granted, but it's not at the bottom of the list), and I don't see a point in all those sequels and prequels besides making money.

Yes, I know, Square-Enix is a company, and companies make money, and yadda yadda. Instead of spending so much time and money on all those spins-off, why don't they use it to make new stuff instead? Like a Chrono game, for example? Or something completely original that is not FF and will awe us all? Or at least, port or remake some of their older titles. Seiken Densetsu III anyone? I'd love to play that game on my DS or a console instead of the (illegal) emulator on my crappy computer.

Yes, I realise it's ironic to dislike sequels and prequels, but not the ports and remakes. They both exist to make money, but at least the ports and remakes allows some gamers who never played the originals in the past to experience them. Or the oldbies to relive the experience and get the warm, fuzzy nostalgia feeling.
