Default Anyone good with timezones?

Can anyone tell me what time 4:00AM PST would be at GMT -5

Oh and to give this a topic, what do you feel of timezones? I find it annoying how there isn't 1 universal timezone everyone has to learn so you can read announcements properly

UTC and GMT are practically the same. But if you're a company that deals mainly with customers in one location it's convenient to give them times they expect to see.

Only in North America (USA, and only in some places, I don't know if Canada uses it), but Latin America uses GMT widely (in some places the GMT+/-n they use gets a name change, but it's just to get a fixed name, if my memory doesn't fails). Oh yeah, and some of them use DST.

OT, I like timezones, only because I can mess someone's mind with my timezone and theirs xD.

EST = GMT-5
PST = GMT-8

GMT, EST, PST are all names for time zones in the UTC system.

Greenwich, which is where the prime meridian is.

GMT is the name of time zone for UTC+0.

UTC is the current system of time zones.
Your in UTC+1, which has several different names depending on where you live.

In total there are 24 main time zones, with some countries in their own time zones.

UTC was created by several nations, and the center is actually in France.

Before today i have never heard of UTC, while i have been taught about GMT.. even on the map there is GMT

but it would be just for france to put the middle in their country.. buncha selfish dudes

quote from wikipedia
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is a term originally referring to mean solar time at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich in London. It is now often used to refer to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) when this is viewed as a time zone, although strictly UTC is an atomic time scale which only approximates GMT in the old sense
