Default Getting AP but staying at Low Level???

I need help on what kind of monsters to card to get high AP so it doesnt take me forever to learn new abilities without levelling up. Ive just got Airbourne with Balamb Garden on Disk 2. If anyone could help, would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Daza110

If you use Quetzacotl's 'Card' ability to turn monsters into cards, you'll gain AP but not EXP. I use this trick all the time to keep a low level, since it means all the monsters and enemies stay at low levels too.

i should do that cuz squall is usually 20 levels higher then everyone else
I like chocolate!! No matter what flavor you get, you can always taste the broken dreams!

~Dead people should stay dead, otherwise whats the point of killing them???

Kashkabald Desert is the best place. Cactuars offer 4 EXP and 20 AP each, so if you aren't able to Card or Break them, you won't risk levelling up.

I think you can. You can't reach the actual island, but if you run along the edge of the continent right next to it the cactuars still show up. I seem to remember doing that once I got the Garden. (I think )

Cactus Island is a risky place to go early in the game anyway, what with the ever-present risk of Jumbo Cactuar

Before you get the flying Garden, you can fight Fastitacolan-Fs on beaches. They have very little/no exp and offer 3 AP each I believe. When you get the flying Garden the best place is definitely the Kashkabald Desert, it's directly west of Cactuar Island and is accessible by the Garden. I actually leveled up off the exp Cactuars give while I was farming AP for GFs :P.

Kashkabald Desert is definitely accessible on disc 2. I went there just before the battle with Galbadia Garden at Edeas house/the orphanage
and had my GF learn all their abilities. There is a gap between the mountains that you can use to get near Cactuar Island if you leave the Garden behind. I've tried to mark it on the map but it's only the general area.:mog:
