I wanted to shout out to Smashing Pumpkins' cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide", as I'm listening to it right now and I thought they did a pretty good job, despite the lead singer being male and all.

I like Nirvana's cover of Lake of Fire.
That's about all I can think of right now.
Dynamite Hack - Boyz-N-the-Hood
Johnny Cash - Hurt (Nine Inch Nails)
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan)
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)
Not the best ever, but two recent covers I found amusing, and suprisingly good:
The Darkness - Street Spirit (Fade Out) (Radiohead)
The Vines - Ms Jackson (Outkast)
It is very good, one of the best personally.Originally Posted by -N-
But the best is clearly Johnny Cash's "Hurt".
"I think you'd make any (nice) woman happy... & I think you really deserve for someone to make you happy too for a change"
Blitzkrieg by Metallica - don't know who the original artist is
Breadfan by Metallica - ditto
Turn the Page by Metallica - originally by Bob Seger
Higher Ground by the Red Hot Chili Peppers - originally by Stevie Wonder
All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix - originally by Bob Dylan (as mentioned above)
The Man Who Sold the World by Nirvana - not sure of original artist....was it David Bowie?
Blue Monday by Orgy - originally by some cheesy 80s band
That's all I can think of at the moment........
I almost forgot.......
Cinnamon Girl by Type O Negative - Orginally by Neil Young

Aretha Franklin - Respect (Otis Redding)
Orgy - Blue Monday (New Order)
The White Stripes - I Don't Know What To Do With Myself (Dusty Springfield)
The Bangles - Hazy Shade Of Winter (Simon and Garfunkel)
Mariah Carey - Without You (Badfinger) (her only good cover song)
Devo - Satisfaction (The Rolling Stones)
Soft Cell - Tainted Love (Gloria Jones)
Roberta Flack - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow (Shirelles)
Scissor Sister - Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
Annie Lennox - No More I Love You's (The Lover Speaks)
DJ Sammy, Yanou, Do - Heaven (Bryan Adams) (actually remix of a cover, but you know)
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn (Ednaswap)
Chantel Kreviazuk - Wild Horses (The Rolling Stones)
George Michael - Somebody To Love (Queen)
Madonna did a surprisingly good cover of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You"
Johnny Cash - Hurt. <3
Oh yeah, Dylan did do "All Along the Watchtower" before Hendrix covered it. :<3:
Bush did a live version of REM's "The One I Love" that turned me into a puddle of foa. Yay!
Signature by rubah. I think.
There are too many great covers to list.
My favourite cover band is the slovene band Laibach though.
They're not really a cover band, but each album contains lots of really interesting covers.
My favourite is probably their cover of Jesus Christ Superstar.
RHCP's - Higher Ground. (Stevie Wonder)
Metallica - Whisky In The Jar (Thin Lizzy, who in turn had essentially covered it from Dubliners/Pogues)
Turn the Page (Bob Seger) is also fab, as someone mentioned.
DJ Sammy - Boys of Summer (Remix) (Don Henley)
The Clash - I Fought The Law (The Crickets)

Billy does the best covers. I love Landslide but I'm going to have to say Zwan's cover of Don't Let me Down by The Beatles is even better.Originally Posted by -N-
