Attacks: New and Old

Right now, the only attack I can comment on is the Omnislash V5. I originally argued that it was unnecessary and long and would amount to the same total damage as the regular Omnislash if it even made it that far.

I, however, have developed a theory as to how the Omnislash V5 works and why it is therefore not completely ridiculous.

Like most entertainment projects from Japan, the powers of the heroes of these stories typically derives of spiritual energy. Since we know that the Lifestream is composed of spiritual energy, we then know it is part of the story.

Thus I've theorized that Cloud extends his own spiritual energy into the blades before releasing them into the air (this allows them to hover momentarily as he jets from one blade to the next). Since his energy is equally distributed to each blade, Cloud must utilize each weapon in his attack in order to unleash his full power. In this way, we see a contrast between the original and the V5.

Like in the case of Ichigo from BLEACH, Cloud's newest attack better channels his power thus accomplishing maximum effectiveness with minimal expenditure.

People who make shows purely for the entertainment value without providing reason as to how it fits the story should die horrible deaths.

Final Fantasy is not Family Guy. You can't just cram it full of cool-looking ass-vomit. It decreases the story's value and takes away from the characters and environment. Suddenly, all you care about is a move that "looked cool" even though it obviously served no real purpose. People who accept this crap are just as bad as the people who shovel it and should be treated as such.

This is why I decided to make the attack "sound" relevant. Because no matter how defiant, fast, and showy something may be, it ends up looking stupid if it serves no real purpose. That's right folks! Omnislash V5 looked stupid. It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen, why? Because it apparently served no purpose. As if Cloud Strife himself knew that an audience was watching and so he decided to make this thing as showy as possible.

But maybe everyone agrees that my theory is too wild and maybe it's stupid in itself. Well, here's another one:

Knowing it'd be difficult to attack Sephiroth straight-up, Cloud decides it's best to attack from all directions. There. Simple and straightforward, right? Having all those swords floating around would sure be distracting and there's no way to know where Cloud is coming from or what exactly he plans to do with those swords.

But whatever... Advent Children is what it will be to everyone who thinks it is that. Ignorance is bliss, right?

Since most Limit Breaks involve spirit energy, I just assumed that was the case from the beginning. The new omnislash has fewer strikes than the original one, and it basically surrounds the target to launch attacks from all directions. Zipping around with unnatural speed would increase the damage inflicted by each blow; it'd also leave him in range of a counterattack for a shorter time.

Overall, it's quite sound tactically: heavy, fast blows from all sides, with less risk to Cloud himself. It works against an aerial target effectively, too.
