FF7 issues
I downloaded the XP patch and the game now runs, but the screen is black with just Cloud on it until I get into a random battle, then I can see the "battlefield". Is there something I don't have enabled or something, or has anyone experienced this and knows how to fix it?

What OS are you running and what are your computer specs?

Also, try running it in compatibility mode (I think you'd be safe to set it to Windows 98).

I was running Windows XP SP2. I think I found out what the problem was. I had the FF VII configuration setup to use "Hardware" for the video and when I set it to "Software" the problem went away. The only problem now is that the cut-scenes lag a little. The game works for me now though so I'm not going to mess with it. I'm just glad I got the game to work finally. This really was a good game back in "the day" and it's refreshing to play a game that you thought you'd never play again and have fun all over again.

Yeah it's pretty good, I just finished playing it yesterday (after not playing it since 1998 or so).
