    Default Favourite Thing About Anime

So what's your favourite thing about anime?

Personally, it'd have to be all of the awesome looking male characters and pretty female characters (points to sig) that most anime series/movies have.

I also like how crazy they act at times (crazy angry facial expressions, bursting in anger, etc).

Let's see... the captivating storylines, the beautiful artistic style that is used, the adorable female characters, the badass male characters, and the overall humor. <3

There's a lot I enjoy. It depends on the show though as anime has taken on such a broad term anymore.

Generally though I enjoy the animations. And I love the character designs, be them insane or not, it's just nice to see something interesting that characters wear that you'd never see in real life except outside of fashion shows or anime conventions.

I also enjoy how watching the Japanese versions of the shows the dialog can get pretty poetic at times. And in my opinion the characters and stories are much more developed then so many American forms of media. Anime also doesn't try to be gimmicky or follow as many social norms as American media does. Anymore American shows and movies will just sell out and do something 'cool' because they think it'll get them better ratings or what not. Really most animes are better developed then so many other forms of media now a days.

I also like how sometimes different series' will actually surprise you and aren't as formulated as other shows and movies I watch now a days. I also enjoy how there's a lot of animes I watch to the end and they leave me pondering over it for days, weeks or even years (damn you Evangelion!).

Umm... the fact that is animated? that at least one character has crazy hair and normally contains at least one character who defies gravity! it is a win win if they are the same character.
Oh, did I mention I'm awesome?

All the sick yaoi porn it spawns for me involving rape

I think a lot of them have awesome plots that would come off wrong if not animated in that style. Well, some of them. Some anime are boring as all hell. But some are greater than anything

A lot of it gives me awesome music too. Thank you Kanno and Kajiura!

What I like most about anime is how the medium isn't as limited as its animated counterparts in the west are. While I'm sure the vast majority of anime is still kid's stuff, there is always a great deal of more mature shows available. And since they aren't limited to the confines of reality (both in plot and the actors/characters themselves), creativity can be taken in ways that Live Action just won't be able to do justice to.

There are some things that Live Action shows inherently do better, and there are even a few Western cartoons that effectively appeal to mature audiences, but I turn to anime for the wide range of genres and styles it encompasses.

Also, it's awesome to finally see my precious Gurren-Lagann getting some widespread love.

I like anime because of the plot lines and the fact that it's enjoyable, there's stuff of almost every genre imaginable.
