    Default The TU24 Asteroid

    Dawn of
    The Third Day

    -24 Hours Remain-

According to the site, there is a high chance that this large asteroid will cause "...electromagnetic interference as TU24 traverses Earth's magnetosphere in the manner of Tunguska 100 years ago."

I, personally, am willing to bet it won't be as terrible as implied on the site, but assuming it's no prank, I'll still leave it open to possibility. But because I haven't seen any indication of the Asteroid even being in existence myself, I will be skeptical. All I have is the site's word for evidence, and it's not much. Of course, perhaps I'm only willing to bet due to my non-existence if I am incorrect. :mog: We'll see soon enough, I s'pose.

So, what do you think of the Asteroid? Opinions pl0x.

If you found this on Space.com I'd be more likely to believe it. But alas, it's on a .org website named after... well.. itself.

    Also, it says

It's the largest potentially hazardous asteroid for the next 19 years.
That would be 2027 and in like 2004 NASA said the closest asteroid to earth would be in 2014-2016. So unless this is that asteroid WAY to early, I wouldn't believe it.

This just seems like another doomsday mumbojumbo to me!

Edit: I just went to space.com and seached "TU24" and got no results back. Conspiracy or non-existance?!

    JPL Small-Body Database Browser

Earth's orbit and the asteroid's orbit cross paths, but not at the same time.

I'm thinking non-existance, personally. If it's not someone lying, it looks like they were simply wrong.

    ssd.jpl.nasa.gov page about TU24's orbit

Nah, there's a path on a .gov nasa website, but it shows the orbits and they never touch. If it's not a big deal it wouldn't be on Space.com, hence it's not, but it can be found. I put the link above.

Weve known for decades that an asteroid is on the way.. believe me that we will blow that thing up in such tiny bits that you can pee them aside

Regardless, we better find the Ocarina of Time soon, because there isn't enough time to visit all four temples. =(

Ah, I see. So it's at least in existence. That diagram does seem to show TU24 getting oddly close to Earth, though.

Quick Edit: I'd best learn how to play the Song of Time Double-Noted on my Guitar.

Look at the AU's, I don't think they get anything under .9 AU, and since the sun is 1 AU from the earth.... Well yeah you can guess how close it'll get. I'll watch again just to see though.

The Diagram itself starts on Janurary 28th, 2007. AKA today...

And well, it says it's .0086 AU's from Earth and .986 AU's from the sun, which means we should be able to look outside and see it.

    Where is it? xD

Other than today, it gets further away.

It does get to .581 AU's from earth in the year 2025 though!

    .194 AU's on Dec. 1st 2027

    .222 AU's on Feb 24th 2045

I wish we could tell which side the Earth is facing. I want to tell when I should get a telescope out!

Astronomy.com - NASA scientists get first images of Earth flyby asteroid

    THERE ARE PICTURES!

And it won't get close enough.

But we should be able to see it pass by!

I find it silly that they point out a lack of impact when that wasn't part of the rumor. :3 Ah, well. If there WAS any real danger they could see, they'd probably mention that. No Majora's Mask-ish endings for us.

If it was real: Let's build another one and throw it at it.
