Have you noticed that ever since 300 more and more movies have been doing there own "This...is...SPARTAAAAAA!" thing? Like in Beowulf or some trailer I just were some guy shouted something similar. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to it.
Funny. When I heard the "SPARTAAAAA" line first, it reminded me a lot of "I am Spartacus!"
I thought they did it in movies before 300?
Indeed they did. Some of the earliest written versions of Beowulf, for instance, include the line "I am (called) Beowulf", or variations on that.
In Metal Gear Solid 3, nearly every 'boss' character announces their name in the same way:
"I am... The PAIN!"
"It is time for you... to feel The Fear!"
"I... am... The End!"
...and so on. All 300 did was take this turn of phrase and make it into something that has since become a temporary internet fad.
You know, for all their talk about eating in hell, they never once showed the men eating.
Too much time spent on digitally remastered abs, methinks.
...
The movie Doomsday. This is OUR CITY. I know what you mean
I am Beowulf! Beowulf!!!! BEOWULFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!
If you ever get the chance to see it Beowulf's trailer is so much funnier in french. "C'est Moi, ...BEOWULF"
