Looks like i had a good game against Bury

Judging by the last few games we appear to be a) not having enough possession and b) not making the most of our chances. Maybe up the shooting practise in training?

If we keep this kind of form up though we might just get in the playoffs

Shooting is high to intensive on all attackers so yeah. I don't care if we don't make the most of our chances so long as we score more than the opposition.

I've decided to go for a 4-3-3 with only Dude in the middle.

00:22 - IT'S IN! WHAT A START! 22 seconds and there's a goal! A good ball from Craddock to Jess who hits it, the keeper gets enough to stop it in front of goal but Jess simply keeps momentum and knocks it in! 1-0!




04:47 - Ryan has a shot from distance but it's no good, reaching the stands instead of netting.
12:16 - GOAL! 2-0! Oh, but it's been disallowed! That was almost identical to the last one but Jess this time finds herself offside.
15:00 - smitten makes a good save from a close range shot by Shrewsbury.
18:04 - Ryan shoots, smitten makes a save but the ball is rolling in front of goal... she gets to it just before Nicholson.
19:00 - Nicholson on the counter and he shoots, smitten parries, Manus clears.
21:14 - Oh! It's off the crossbar from the Shrewsbury winger, a real close one there.
24:51 - Hunt is given a yellow as he takes Psychotic down outside the area. Jess takes the kick and shoots hard and fast, but it's not on target.
28:35 - Nice pass from Moss to Nicholson, oh, he's just helped it on it's way and it's in! Far corner, goal to Shrewsbury and it's an even game now! Manus is calling for offside but a replay shows Heath was further back.
34:53 - Nicholson muscles past Manus and fires in a quality shot but it's straight above smitten who jumps and puts it over the bar.
38:08 - DK puts in a nice long cross from the corner area, Jess finds the end of it but she nods wide.
40:23 - Drummond has a crack from a cross but it's over the bar.
41:42 - Another save from smitten, this time it's Ryan who shot the ball in.
45:00 - Tremendous game so far with chances on chances - it's still 1-1 though and both teams will be looking for a win.
45:57 - Oh dear, Nicholson eases past the defence once more and he's struck hard - but too hard, as it misses the top right corner.
52:04 - Some quick passing around the penalty area does Shrewsbury no good and it's off target again by Ryan.
63:43 - Nicholson is away with loads of room and nobody in front of him but the keeper! But he's being pressed too tight and the angle isn't good for him, straight into smitten's arms.
65:28 - Another shot on by Nicholson which is too high.
69:00 - A nice cross from blim but it ends up with nobody on the end of it.
72:13 - Drummond latches onto a cross but heads it wide.
72:21 - Looks like BoB's calling a change, with Edge coming on for Craddock. He's done well but Dude is tiring in the midfield and BoB doesn't seem to want him to do it on his own now.
77:52 - Ouch! feeds to Dude, who plays a nice ball up for DK who manages to get on the end of it, great run, but his shot is straight to the keeper.
82:00 - Both teams make double substitutions, and blim heads to the sidelines to make way for Leopold. DK is off for a rest as Harvest joins Jess up front.
88:27 - Free kick, Jorgensen shoots from outside the area but it's well wide.
90:00 (+5:18) - Psychotic is injured and has to come off, leaving ten men for the dying seconds.
90:00 - It's all over, a 1-1 draw with a lot of shots but just two goals - one a piece. Jess' early goal wasn't enough.










Disappointed but what's done is done, I suppose. I'm just looking forward to returning to a familiar lineup - although Psychotic looks likely to miss the next game, which sucks. We're still 8th, though, and in the big picture we're doing awesomely. If we can get even a point out of the next two games, I'll be pleased.

Jess was lacking in match fitness after a rough game last week, so she missed the cut. 80% condition is no way to start a match.

03:00 - First half-chance of the game as Lincoln strike wide.
04:33 - McAllister and Craddock combine well and feed in the forward-running Dude but his shot is given a bump over the bar by the Lincoln keeper.
06:31 - GOAL! Dude puts a nice pass in for McAllister who makes a very clean strike to the far corner, the keeper might have done better with that but the Irishman has made his presence known to great effect.
08:06 - GOAL! Well, that lead was short-lived! Forrester the dangerman gets his 11th of the season after a nice through-ball from Frecklington. Ouch! is furious with the assistant though and it's soon clear why... Forrester was offside!
10:59 - Watkins has a shot but it's wide.
15:11 - blim delivers a cross and Craddock can't get a clean shot in as he's surrounded by defenders.
19:01 - The ball's in the net again but there's a foul on Manus and it won't count.
33:09 - Jamie Forrester with a dramatic bicycle kick but it's not got the right direction.
35:06 - Dude takes on a long shot but it doesn't trouble the keeper.
39:39 - Oooh! Craddock in a lot of space and he shoots just inside the penalty area, but it's parried away by Cherry and then cleared by the defender.
40:34 - Heath with a cheeky longshot from halfway! On target, too! But the keeper has it.
42:59 - A good fast tempo to this game, and we have an indirect free kick from outside the area. GOAL! Oh, Cz took it fast, who got on the end of that? Ouch! is claiming it as he wheels away from the penalty box, he's got a massive smile on his face! 1-2! That's Ouch!'s first goal of the season.
45:00 - Tremendous match so far, 1-2 to the away team and hopefully there's more to this yet!
51:17 - GOAL! Corner from Frecklington and Watkins has his head to it, fantastic header there. It's 2-2 again and there's surely more to come, that's a goal either side of the break from a set piece.
56:54 - GOAL! Oh dear, it's all falling apart for Eyeson, they're down 3-2 after a brilliant shot from the edge of the penalty area from a free kick. That really was as far wide as he could have hit it without it touching the post.
71:26 - Nothing much for a while now but BoB is calling in Cz and Craddock with DK and Leopold jumping up and down on the edge of the pitch.
74:32 - Edge picks up a forward pass and goes for the long shot, but it's just wide of the near post.
80:12 - Well, that's surely put it to bed as Lincoln go 4-2 as Watkins gets in on the act again.
90:00 (+0:14) - A wild shot from blim flies over the bar.
90:00 (+1:48) - A lovely cross from DK finds McAllister, but it's gone over the bar from such a close range.

Bugger. Still, it was always going to be a hard match. Oddly, we're favourites for the upcoming match against Grimsby... but one look at that defensive formation makes me have awful memories. That's the same formation Shrewsbury used and I hated playing against it.




FYI, four midweek games went on and we're still 11th, so we've at least got that on our side. Spatvark has returned to full fitness, Jess is at 100% again, too. Psychotic is still on 86% so I've left him out.

Since we actually have three central midfielders available to us, I'm thinking I'll start with the lot of them.

Not getting first team matches.

We won 2-0 and played a pretty much perfect game. I have all the images saved. But then my PC crashed before I saved the game and now the whole game has to be redone. So I'm going to keep doing it (fast-style) until I get a win again, and I won't bother typing out much commentary for this one as I'm really pissed off at my PC for choosing that very moment as the one time it's ever randomly restarted on me in the 1-2 years I've had it. So hacked off.

Usually not being in the first team enough, or something equally obnoxious. That was my main gripe with the game, players getting pissed that you aren't picking them whether or not they're hopeless.

37:20 - Jess shoots, Montgomery saves.
45:00 (+0:27) - Spatvark shoots, Montgomery gets a hand to it and it goes out.

46:28 - Dude goes to ground, ref gives him yellow for diving!

So Jess steals Cz's MOTM, Spatty steals his goal (which was funny as he clearly wasn't going for goal, he was wanting a header onwards but nobody got to it and it just went in). We lose the clean sheet from the original game, and get no players into the team of the weak (last time we had Heath, Cz and Saunders). Also the fans were around 80% happy with our performance last time, which is the best we'd ever had. Ahhh well.







The upsides? Edge doesn't get a yellow (and thus, a suspension for one match), Spatvark has a much better game which he needed as the fans were questioning him a lot lately, and most importantly of all, winning is winning.

I have to say, it's a big bonus as we've been relying on just three central midfielders with no reasonable backup for some time. If I can allow for the option of having a 4-3-3 with an extra CM on the bench then I'll be happy. McAllister seems to be doing better for us than Craddock, too, which is a bit of a surprise given Craddock's finishing is superior to everyone else, but I'm happy all the same as we have options with Jess and DK both doing well also.

The biggest plus so far, though, is that we won 2-0 in one game (the one that got wiped by my restart) and then 2-1 in the next - both without Craddock and McAllister in the starting lineup. Jess did well as the lone striker and Spatvark, Edge and Dude worked together brilliantly. With us already having good wingers, this can only boost our options when we go up against different teams.

Big game up next - Chesterfield. It'll be very tough, but they've lost their first game just days ago and it was to lowly Rotherham of all clubs. We're much better placed than Rotherham so I'm hoping we have the possibility of a real upset on our hands.

Looking forward to simming that tonight, although I don't have any real expectations of a win. Chesterfield aren't the best team in attack (although probably still better than us), but they've conceded just 8 goals in 14 games. We'll have to do very well to penetrate that defence, and if we do then we should hopefully be able to scrape a draw if we're lucky.

For those interested, the other team to have been promoted into League Two alongside ourselves is Morecambe - just one position below us. A good run so far for the previously conference sides, it seems. The teams to have dropped from League One into League Two are frontrunners Chesterfield as well as Bradford, Rotherham and Brentford.
