A novel by Zadie Smith. What do you think about it? I read it quite recently and I think it's one of the best books I have ever read. I can't actually tell you what it's about, because you don't really know until you read the whole of it, so that would be spoiling... I can only tell you that it deals with a lot of problems, yet always remains witty and fun

It's pretty good, especially for a first novel. But it has a few niggling faults. None of the characters are particularly endearing and one family is a pretty poor stereotype. And the ending is very weak. But there's a lot of humour and Zadie Smith has delivered on the promise shown in it in her subsequent two novels I think.
