So, Stage6 is closing down tomorrow. I'll admit that I didn't use it very often, but the times I did to watch some HD quality stuff, it was great to have around.

Oh what the hell. Stage6 was like the best website on the entire internets.
And where will I watch my free shows D:
Demonflicks is planning to open up a site similar to stage6 so go there if you're interested. (will be down for a day or so because of switching hosts)

BBC iPlayer shows BBC programmes for up to a week after their original air date, and you can actually download shows for free, and keep them for up to 30 days.
Very handy, especially when you keep falling asleep during In Cold Blood (nature programme about reptiles. Thanks, David Attenborough!)
Drawbacks: the shows are only on there temporarily, and the download files are also shortlived. Plus, it's only shows that are on the BBC channels in England.

Yea, stage6 closing down makes me sad, due to only finding it recentlyish and still having a crap ton of stuff to watch on it, the only alternative I know of doesn't have high quality stuff sadly. And that would be Veoh.
This sucks, mainly because I never knew about this site until now. At least it'll be one less commercial video site clogging up the tubes. Now maybe my email will send.

They're closing down because of the costs of maintaining the site, not because of any legal reasons, so there's no reason to suspect that similar sites will shut down.
