I hate that phrase.
What, if any, common phrases or idioms do you hate/think are stupid and/or useless?!

My compliments to the chef. Because....I eat food on a college campus and it sucks.
And...what does the "peanut gallery" mean???
I think it means people who sit in the cheapseats...I remember my grandpa told me that.
An apple a day, keeps the doctor away...
I dislike eating apples...

Oh, did I mention I'm awesome?
Knock on wood.
That really annoys me for some reason.
You hold my heart in your manly hands I wanna feel the throb of your handsome gland. I wanna hold you tight like a newborn kitten, against my flesh like a cashmere mitten. Tickly tick, I'm makin' skin bump heaven and all the way down it's lookin' cleanly shaven. Prickety pricks, it's stubble on stubble I better slow down or I'm in real trouble. Want you, touch you, feel you, taste you! Knick knack whacky whack 'till I see the man stew. spin you around let me see that hole! I'm a tunnelin' in a like a short hair mole. Once I'm inside I'm gonna leave a trace, half in there and half on that face! One finger, two finger, there fingers gone! Mano a mano I love you John!
Just change it to the Texan version! In stead of:
Potato (Poe-Tay-Toe) Potato (Poe-Tah-Toe)
It's:
Pecan (Pee-Kahn) Pecan (Pee-Can)
"GIT-R-DONE!"
"toad-suck fairy" - The part of the parking lot farthest away from where ever it is you are going.
And finally, "Slow Up" bothers the hell out of me.
"It's like comparing apples and oranges."
And... why are these incomparable, exactly?
I've always wondered that myself.
I mean comparing an apple to a walnut or an orange to ... A CAR, would be alot better example than apples and oranges.
An apple and a walnut and an orange and a car are clearly two different things, where as an apple and an orange.. well they're both fruits.
The presumed, more fitting alternative would be "apples and other apples."
