Toejam and Earl: Panic on Funktron rocked.
Lufia 2 and BoF 2 were a couple other greats.
Hook on the SNES was actually rather fun too. So was Super Bowling.
In addition, Earthbound. One of the SNES's greatest pieces of art.
Super Mario world deserves mention. As does Star Fox on the SNES.
Saturday night slammasters was a quite fun.
One of the Snes Spider man games tickled my fancy, along with Marvel: War of the Gems.
And another one of the best was Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen.
Street Fighter Alpha 2 was my favorite Streetfighter game back then. One other great fighter from the Snes was Killer Instinct.
I think thats good for now. :P

2D Action/Adventure: Super Metroid
2D RPG: Lunar
2D Fighter: Capcom vs. SNK 2
2D Platformer: Super Mario World
Edit: Woah, hey, Star Fox on the SNES wasn't 2D.
