It gives a lot of power to the town. To nullify that power somewhat, game mods have given the stipulation that masons are able to recruit scum members without knowing it. I didn't like that as it defeats the purpose of what the masons are, a group who know they are town.
Masons are another thing that I would expect to see in every few games, yet they have been in the last three. So I want to see something different.
