If your favourite Nintendo character isn't in Smash Bros., your favourite Nintendo character is really obscure and replacing Snake and Sonic with two Nintendo characters probably wouldn't help that. A game about various video game characters fighting each other is about a zillion times more awesome than various characters from one company fighting each other.
And yes, if Sega Superstar Tennis had Mario in it, that'd be fine with me.
It's been two freaking years since Snake was confirmed for Brawl. People get over death faster than that.
